Growing only a quarter of the size of the larger Magnolia tree varieties, the evergreen Magnolia Little Gem will grow to between 4m-6m high and 2.5m-5m wide. The foliage is dense and looks great when mass planted. The ‘less-is-more-rule’ doesn’t apply with these Magnolia trees!

Colours & Flowers:

The Magnolia Little Gem has rich glossy green leaves with a rusty coloured underside. This colour combination can be matched to achieve a fantastic effect with contemporary and modern gardens. During spring and summer be delighted by the blooming beautiful white perfumed flowers.

Growing & Care:

This almost insect and disease free plant will grow as far north as Cairns in Queensland to the southern tip of Victoria. We recommend well-drained soil and to plant in mostly full sun positions (although this hardy plant can tolerate part shade). To assist flowering and new growth, prune your Magnolia Little Gem after flowering. Although these plants are low-maintenance, a little loving attention will be greatly rewarded with a plentiful abundance of sweet-smelling creamy white flowers.

Best Displayed:

With its compact size and dense glossy leaves, the Magnolia Little Gem looks great as a hedge or border plant. For impact, plant single plants in large oversized pots and position on your balcony, deck, patio or entrance way.  Another clever use of the Magnolia Little Gem is to plant as a ‘partition wall’ to help define your outdoor areas, while not closing them off due to their smaller height.
